Resilient Red Hook
In collaboration with Eugene Lubomir
Resilient Red Hook is a neighborhood design intervention that allows the community to maintain its integrity and functionality uninterrupted in the face of extreme events. The buffer zone is one component of this resiliency strategy, that strategically reintroduces natural wetlands along the coastline. The softening of the edge provides protection to areas that are vulnerable to flooding and storm surge while also providing waterfront connectivity. Commercial and industrial armatures are integrated with the buffer zone throughout critical moments in the neighborhood, offering places to shop, play, gather and create.
